Save $200. It happened today, May 27. The 15-inch Apple M5 MacBook air is $1,099. on Amazon. That is its lowest price ever. 15 percent off list. You didn’t see this coming.
The 13-inch M5 Air dipped under $900 for Memorial Day. Still there. I’d grab it if you want. But wait. Why buy small when the big screen drops for the same amount? Almost perfect machines. Both of them. But “most folks will make good use the larger screen” writes Mashable’s Haley Henschel.
Specs match up nicely. 16GB of RAM. 512GB of storage. All for that $1,099 figure.
Big vs. Small
Same guts. The M5 chip in both. It is fast. Wildly impressive, really. But the 15-incher adds two speakers. Plus two GPU cores. Extra juice.
Mashable calls it the “best MacBook for most people.” Makes sense.
If you have an M3 or even an M4 already. Do you care? The M5 isn’t radically different. Same vivid Liquid Retina screen. Same 12MP camera. Two Thunderbolt ports. 18-hour battery. Sleek aluminum. Spectacular speakers. It all stays the same.
Tim Werth from Mashable puts it this way:
“By boosting its performance even further… the Air is now too powerful for its good.”
Powerful. Maybe too much for some. But that one complaint of his? He wanted it $200 cheaper.
Wish granted.
Get it now. Or don’t. The price is right. For today at least.
