McDonald’s is rolling out a limited-time menu inspired by Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters, tapping into the film’s popularity with themed meals and striking new food items. The promotion, set to begin March 31, includes both breakfast and standard meal options, with a strong emphasis on color and novelty.

The HUNTR/X Meal: Spicy and Purple

The core offering is the HUNTR/X Meal, featuring 10-piece Chicken McNuggets served with a medium drink and three standout additions. First, the Ramyeon McShaker fries deliver a unique experience; customers mix fries with a packet of soy, garlic, sesame, and spice seasoning before shaking them up in the provided bag.

The meal also introduces two new sauces: Hunter sauce, a sweet chili blend, and Demon sauce, a striking purple mustard sauce with a spicy kick. McDonald’s noted that there isn’t enough purple food out there.

Sweet Treats and Breakfast Options

Completing the lineup is the Derpy McFlurry, a vanilla soft-serve dessert swirled with wild berry sauce and popping boba pearls, named after the movie’s supernatural feline character, Derpy Tiger.

For breakfast, the Saja Boys Breakfast Meal offers a Spicy Saja McMuffin (a sausage McMuffin with spicy sauce), hash browns, and a small drink.

Collectible Photocards and Digital Content

Both meals include collectible photocards featuring the film’s bands, along with a special Derpy card featuring a QR code. Scanning the code unlocks exclusive online content related to KPop Demon Hunters.

The strategy behind this collaboration is clear : McDonald’s is leveraging the cultural impact of a popular movie to drive sales, appealing to fans with themed food and collectibles. The bright colors and spicy flavors are designed to stand out in a crowded fast-food market, with the purple Demon sauce being a particularly attention-grabbing element.
